Who runs it, how mistakes are corrected, and what we keep.
Who runs it
Kanakku is an independent civic project from Kerala. It is not affiliated with KIIFB, the government or any political party, and takes no money or direction from them. It is currently paid for by the person who runs it. There are no advertisements.
The site has one rule for what it does: show the figures the government publishes, next to their source, with the same rules for everyone. The method page explains how.
Corrections
If a figure, name or date here differs from its source, or a flag looks wrong, write to: corrections@keralakanakku.com
- Include the page's address, what is wrong and, if you can, where the correct figure is published.
- We reply within seven days.
- If the mistake is in how we read or calculated something, we check it against the source and correct it within seven days. A flag raised in error is removed, and the removal is recorded on the project's page.
- If the figure is wrong at the source itself (on KIIFB's dashboard, say), we cannot change it. We will tell you so, and you can raise it with the body that published it.
Requests to remove information
This site is made of records government bodies publish about public spending: projects, amounts, dates, contractors' names and the names of elected representatives. We do not remove them because they are inconvenient. When the source corrects them, they change here at the next read.
We do not keep or show private individuals' phone numbers or home addresses, even where a source prints them. If you find such information anywhere here, write to the address above and we will remove it promptly. Legal notices go to the same address.
Privacy
- No accounts, no cookies, no advertising trackers.
- We count only how often each kind of page is opened each day. When a search finds nothing, we keep the words and a count, not who searched; text that looks like an email address or phone number is not kept.
- We do not store IP addresses. The site runs on Cloudflare, which handles technical data in order to serve it.
- Pages you open are saved on your own device so they can be read offline; that copy never reaches us.
